For people asking how to help: read this thread and take action accordingly. Listen to/support/uplift voices like @TaylorMcNallie. Learning from her words and work have been instrumental in interrogating my motivations and actions while I move through life. Show up ready to work. Listen and take direction from Black and Indigenous voices. There is no room for self promoting motivations, ego, or white saviourship. Learn how to take feedback and be ready to make the changes necessary towards your actions and beliefs.

The City of Edmonton AND the Province of Alberta have blood on their hands. Since the summer, I have volunteered with a 'boots on the ground' mutual aid group that serves the most vulnerable in #YEG. Here are some thoughts regarding encampments and the Shigella Outbreak 1/17 Health officials, community members, the City and mutual aid groups knew of the Shigella outbreak in the summer. Peers and I would discuss how to minimize the spread and protect ourselves + the community when serving our neighbours. KNEW ABOUT THIS IN THE SUMMER. 2/17
