Given today's news, here's a look back at some important & unresolved Stone matters.
wsj.com/articles/justi… 1. In 2016, as Stone & Corsi discussed Assange's plans, Corsi emailed: "time to let more than Podesta" be exposed.

According to a draft plea deal Corsi refused, Corsi deleted the emails & lied about them.

What really happened and why wasn't he charged?wsj.com/articles/jerom…

A bunch of TikTok users are reacting to impeachment news.

One girl literally took a false claim from Snopes, cropped the "false" rating out of it, and shared it with tens of thousands of people.

TikTok took the video down after WSJ inquired about it.

wsj.com/video/tiktok-g… The false claim: that a president impeached by the House but not convicted by the Senate is eligible to run for office two more times.

Having spent a huge chunk of time in "troll-land" last year, it's very nice to see our WSJ stories referenced in this.

Also, Americans should really read this bipartisan report. From report: "No single group of Americans was targeted by IRA information operatives more than African-Americans."

Our story on how Russian trolls targeted blacks using a black business directory, self-defense lessons & police brutality petitions: wsj.com/articles/russi…

**Timeline thread**

A quick look at the events surrounding Manafort's AUGUST 2, 2016 meeting with Konstantin Kilimnik, a man the gov't assessed to have had ties to Russian intelligence in 2016. Manafort's plea deal has now been voided bc of lies he told regarding that meeting. JULY 27, 2016: Trump says he has "nothing to do with Putin" and says it's probably not Russia hacking Clinton's emails. Then, he calls on Russia to find Clinton's missing emails:

THREAD: Why is it significant that the House Intel Committee has agreed to give Roger Stone's interview transcript to special counsel Robert Mueller?

wsj.com/articles/house… cc @ByronTau During his testimony, Stone told investigators that when he made various claims of contact with Julian Assange in 2016, he had an intermediary.

We know from this report that he was asked specifically about comments made on InfoWars on August 12th. (democrats-intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/… …)

Roger Stone frienemy @CredicoRandy is appearing before the grand jury right now.

Though you may be distracted by stories about his dog appearing with him, here's a recap of what we know...

(Thread) 1. Mueller is likely interested in Credico because Stone called him his "backchannel" to @wikileaks.

Though @CredicoRandy interviewed @JulianAssange multiple times and is fiercely loyal to him, he has vehemently denied being a middleman b/t Wikileaks and Stone.

Had a canceled flight tonight, soooo who wants to talk about the @GeorgePapa19 sentencing memorandum?

Lots of interesting details in here.

1. The gov't said Papadopoulos lied repeatedly & was aware that doing so would hinder the Russia investigation...

lawfareblog.com/document-georg… 2. The gov't calls out @simonamangiante for misleading the media.

She has said Papadopoulos “voluntarily reported” his convo about Russian “dirt” on Clinton...

But gov't says @GeorgePapa19 only brought it up after specific Qs from agents- and he did so in a misleading way

Seeing “SL” a lot in evidence uploaded by Mueller’s team.

“SL” is likely Serhiy Lyovochkin, Yanukovych’s fmr chief of staff.

Emails show he worked w Manafort in Ukraine.

One of their strategies? To discredit Hillary Clinton.

(Per the Guardian:
theguardian.com/us-news/2018/a…) The Guardian writes that in addition to SL, Manafort was also working with Rick Gates (who joined Trump campaign) & Konstantin Kilimnik (a man Mueller says has ties to Russian intel)

To discredit Clinton, they engaged in a *social media blitz* and briefed *Breitbart reporters*

Fascinating.

On JULY 27, 2016:

-Trump called on Russia to find Hillary Clinton's missing emails

-@wikileaks, in response to news coverage about it, wrote to allies: "Trump is moving ahead of the story"

(Per this archive published by @NatSecGeek: emma.best/2018/07/29/110…) Some other interesting pieces of this long chat chain:

On DNC Drama:

@wikileaks responded to news of @DWStweets stepping down with a smiley face and a "scalp 1" comment.

Then it told its allies: "please link people the nsa dic-pic guy angle for any russia=wikileaks tweeter"

The Trump legal team’s letter is a lot to digest. I’ve been reading and re-reading, and then doing more reading of testimony released by Congress.

The timeline surrounding the Trump Tower meeting response paints a very interesting picture. (Thread) On July 6, 2017, an email from Rob Goldstone, who helped facilitate the meeting, to Alan Garten, chief legal officer for Trump Org, indicates that Trump’s team knew a story was coming on the meeting.

The night before depositions in that case, a Florida man filed a petition from a PO box in Orlando threatening to derail proceedings. (A move that benefitted Avenatti at the time.)

New: Roger Stone sought information damaging to Hillary Clinton from Julian Assange during the 2016 campaign:
wsj.com/articles/roger… In an email to his longtime friend Randy Credico, Stone wrote, "“Please ask Assange for any State or HRC e-mail from August 10 to August 30--particularly on August 20, 2011."

He was seeking info that might confirm a narrative that Clinton botched an alleged peace deal in Libya.
