Update on my heat pump estimates process so far. First guy came, seemed reasonably knowledgeable about the pumps but but paid little attention to air flow or insulation. Turns out he is not on the @SonomaCleanPow installer list. 1/ Second company was on the @SonomaCleanPow installer list for Mendocino County. Day before the appt made two weeks ago they call and tell me that it would be a 2 hour drive to come up so they would charge me $150 to come give me an estimate. I told them no. 2/

I am excited to share this new guide we wrote for @IRECUSA on Hosting Capacity Analyses (HCA). This is the resource that regulatory staff and stakeholders kept asking us for and we finally had the funding available (thanks @BarrFdn) to make it happen. 1/ We find that regulators recognize the need for a tool that provides customers readily accessible information about the grid and its constraints. HCA is this tool, and it can help to ease both DER integration and facilitate better interconnection when done right. BUT… 2/

Something went down in the Midwest yesterday that you need to know about! The @MN_PUC fined Xcel Energy $1 million for failing to provide customers seeking to interconnect #solar with adequate service. This is unprecedented, but I want to share why this is so valuable.🧵 First, what is unprecedented? I know of no other time that a utility has been subject to a financial penalty for an overall failure to adequately manage their interconnection obligations. $1 million is not terribly substantial when it comes to a large utility, but it is notable.
