I am appalled at President Trump's refusal to condemn white nationalists. Not only did Donald Trump not listen to the debate moderator, he spent four years ignoring the needs of the American people. In the debate he spent more time defending the Proud Boys while failing to address the issues that matter most like protecting the planet, caring for the sick, or fixing structural racism. Pope Francis once wrote the role of a good politician is to be 'genuinely disturbed by the state of society.'

George Floyd’s murder by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is another sinful and horrifying act of racism and police brutality in the United States. How many times have we said this should never happen again? And still, (1/7) Image abuse of power by a white police officer has led to the death of another innocent Black man. My deepest sympathy and prayers are with George Floyd’s family and friends, and with all who have lost a loved one as a result of white supremacy. (2/7)
