Your top priority was to weaken the FCC's authority to regulate the internet. You did that when you repealed #NetNeutrality. Meaning that when you needed to actually exercise your authority to close the #DigitalDivide in the middle of a pandemic, you had no way of doing so. I could laugh about how bad Ajit Pai's policies have been under #COVID19 but the sad truth is that the FCC's ineptitude has real consequences. twincities.com/2020/11/10/st-…

The problem with this story is that police using facial recognition does not exist in some sort of vacuum. Past police conduct and abuses factor in. No level of regulation will make this tool safe to use against people of color.
nytimes.com/2020/11/11/tec… There is a longer history of police reforms that have failed to make policing a safe institution for people of color. One such longer view of history is @MPD_150's report Enough is Enough. mpd150.com/report/

Great thread by @propublica.

I've been told to go back to where I came from so many times, I've never truly felt at home anywhere.

I've been policed like I didn't belong in my community. Schooled like I wasn't meant to have a bright future. Paid like I wasn't worth much. @propublica There irony is I do want to go back to where I came from, Los Angeles. It's just gonna take me a little longer. But I know for my family, going back to where they came from is impossible.
