Last week, the Trump campaign challenged a Nevada law allowing elections officials to accept mail ballots for up to 4 business days after Election Day.

I got curious, and records from @NVSOS show that mail after Election Day was 5% of all ballots in Clark and 2.9% in Washoe.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Feeling a bit sentimental? Here are some fun facts about Reno's divorce industry, which led the city to hold the title of Divorce Capital of the World for more than 60 years.

(1/11) Postcard ca. 1940 The postcard shows a woman kicking a man off a bridge into the river. The tossing of wedding rings in the Truckee River was a long-held tradition of mythic proportions. The postcard says, "Greetings from Reno, Nevada (The biggest little city in the world). When I was young and innocent I thought for marriage I was mean but the guy I married I couldn't abide so here goes his ring in the Reno tide. Throwing off the last shackle at the bridge of freedom!" In 1931, the Legislature tried to spur the economy after the Great Depression by passing the “Wide-open Gambling Act” which re-legalized gambling, lowered the divorce residence period to 6 weeks (the shortest in the country), and broadened the grounds for divorce.

(2/11) Postcard ca. 1942 The postcard depicts a woman seeking a divorce being whisked away to a divorce ranch by a handsome cowboy. Lettering on the postcard reads, "Just Arrived in Reno for 6 weeks stay."

I’m getting a lot of questions (and seeing a lot of memes) about why it’s taking so long to get results in Nevada's Senate race.

This thread is by no means comprehensive, but here are some details about why the count is taking a while: First, delays in election results are expected. Counting mail ballots takes time, and ballots are still arriving through Saturday. There are also specific processes and deadlines required by law.

You can see some of the deadlines in this timeline: For those voting by mail, ballots must be postmarked on or b

Remember all of the 2020 election memes asking Nevada to hurry up and finish counting all the votes?

Will we be in for round two as we head into the final stretch of Election Day? Check out this full thread for details about when we can start expecting results. 🧵
(1/10) Mail-in ballots may be a source of the vote-counting delay.

Mail ballots delivered to drop boxes by the close of polls or postmarked on Election Day must be delivered by 5 p.m. Saturday (11/12) to be counted. Voters have until Monday to address any signature issues. (2/10)

Heads up, if you were vaccinated in Nevada, you can now access (and download) your COVID-19 vaccination records through the state's SMART Health QR Code.

Follow this tweet thread for a choose-your-own-adventure-style walkthrough of how to get your records. To get ahold of your record, head to Nevada WebIZ (the state's immunization information system linked below) and sign into the system. (NOTE, if you, like me, do not have your contact information attached to your immunization record go to next tweet)…
