The Wikimedia Foundation who own Wikipedia have, for the first time ever, personally stepped in to ban a veteran administrator from just Wikipedia for one year. No public explanation given, no option for appeal, and not even local admins were warned it was coming. Image At the moment there is pretty much universal condemnation of the action from Wikipedia's community, who feel Foundation involvement undermines the normally self-regulating nature of Wikipedia. The Foundation have also left an unsatisfying "explanation":
