🚨Before @netanyahu lands in DC, we demand @TheJusticeDept investigate him for genocide, war crimes & torture in Gaza. Nearly 40k killed, including more than 14k children, 90k injured, 2 million displaced, & an entire population subject to starvation. This cannot go unanswered. Image @netanyahu @TheJusticeDept In advance of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington next week, we urge the Department of Justice to open a federal criminal investigation into him for his responsibility for genocide, war crimes, and torture.

⚖️ Today before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Palestinians argued that the courts have a constitutional obligation to hear their claims that @POTUS admin failed their legal duty to prevent — and are complicit in — Israel’s genocide in Gaza. @DCIPalestine @alhaq_org Image @POTUS @DCIPalestine @alhaq_org In January, a lower court found a plausible case of genocide and urged the Biden administration to reexamine its “unflagging support” for Israel’s siege of Gaza, but dismissed the lawsuit, finding it was not the court’s place to rule on a “political question.”

In the historic lawsuit brought by Palestinians against Biden, a U.S. federal court finds that Israel’s assault & siege on Gaza plausibly constitutes genocide and “implores” Biden admin to examine its unwavering support of Israel, determining it lacks power to resolve the case. Image The decision reads: “[As] the ICJ has found, it is plausible that Israel’s conduct amounts to genocide. This Court implores Defendants to examine the results of their unflagging support of the military siege against the Palestinians in Gaza.”

UPDATE: The U.S. gov’t responded late yesterday in the genocide case brought by Palestinian organizations and individual, with @POTUS, @SecBlinken, and @SecDef attempting to evade legal responsibility for their failure to prevent—and complicity in—the genocide in Gaza. Image Their lawyers focus on jurisdictional issues rather than the substance of the lawsuit, which was brought by Palestinian human rights groups, Palestinians who live in Gaza, and Palestinians in the U.S. with family members who live in Gaza.

Late yesterday, Palestinians filed an urgent motion asking a federal court to immediately stop @POTUS , Blinken, and Austin from providing further arms, money, military support, and diplomatic support to Israel.

Image This filing is on grounds that they have a legal duty to prevent, and not further, an unfolding genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Leading genocide and Holocaust experts backed the request for preliminary injunction to prevent “irreparable harm” to plaintiffs.

Israel’s designation of leading Palestinian human rights organizations as terrorist is a continuation of a long-standing project by the Israeli government and its supporters to isolate Palestinian civil society advocates and criminalize the promotion of Palestinian rights. These organizations are pillars of Palestinian civil society, and we are proud to have joined many of them in their crucial work to expose and seek accountability for Israeli human rights abuses.

Tomorrow, for the second time in under a month, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are planning to deport a group of Cameroonian asylum seekers back into an active war zone where they face imminent persecution and death. Image Even as the Trump administration has consistently demonstrated its racist antipathy to African and other Black migrants, in recent months we have witnessed a dramatic escalation of its anti-immigrant policies.

BREAKING: Along with @civilrightsorg & 79 other civil rights groups, we urged President Trump and Acting Secretary Wolf to immediately provide the maximum protection possible through a Deferred Enforced Departure or Temporary Protected Status designation for Cameroonians. The move is necessary to ensure that the United States does not return anyone to a country, like Cameroon, that has become temporarily unsafe for its residents.

Last night, we asked a federal court to vacate the conviction and life-without-parole sentence of Ahmed Abu Ali in light of new evidence stemming from the Saudi government’s cover-up of the torture and murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. In 2003, when he was a 22-year-old university student, Mr. Abu Ali was detained by officers of the “Mabahith,” a secret domestic police agency in Saudi Arabia—the same agency involved in the murder and cover-up of Khashoggi.
