In simpler terms what happened to #Facebook is that its DNS has been deleted...
Basically tis like- in a super huge maze labyrinth like mall- the records containing stall numbers, layout, contact deets of the people inside the stalls have all been deleted (1) So imagine peeps came back from a holiday- now no one (those who work at the stall & outsiders) know how to get around the mall or go to the stalls. Because they don't have the layout and they can't find the exact stalls they are looking for. (2)
