POLITICS 101: Why Parliament will be prorogued before Trudeau quits.
1. What is Prorogation? PM calls on the Governor General to ask the current session of Parliament be ended so he can introduce a new Speech from the Throne and a new session to deal with new priorities. 🧵 1/7
This is similar to ending parliament to call for an election. But there’s no election call. It’s just a “reset.”
Parliamentary business, committees, legislation, etc. ceases and, most importantly, the doors to the House of Commons are closed. 2/7

TRYING TO remember what it’s like to wake up on a day when the mayor, council, government and public health officials aren’t conspiring on some new way to take away more of our liberties, freedoms, rights, hopes, opportunities, privileges and joys.
More Tajkistan than Toronto.
#MentalHealth is irrelevant to our political and medical leaders. This means you @JohnTory@epdevilla.

The guns of choice for criminals are not readily available (if at all) to buy legally or steal in Canada.

OMG. ENOUGH with the outrage over opinion pieces in newspapers!
A good newspaper includes both NEWS and OPINION.
Those opinions may include the newspaper’s own opinion (in the EDITORIAL), the opinions of its COLUMNISTS and the opinions of others: OP-EDS, guest columns, etc.
OVER HERE, you have NEWS which is designed to be informative & factual, though selection of which stories to cover & how they’re covered is influenced by the editorial bias of the paper (which in turn reflects the bias of its target market.)
