Last year I was diagnosed with ADHD. I haven't written about it much because the diagnosis was a shock.

Now I have a more solid understanding of ADHD, how it presents for me, and ways to mitigate some of the downsides.

So, for threadapalooza 2023, here's 100 tweets on ADHD 1.
tl;dr If you just want the solutions, here's what I've found helpful:
Meditation
Exercise
Task management
Environment shaping
Medication

These are all ~equally effective, but medication only works while you're on it, with a proper dose. More on treatment options later.

there are these behavioral loops that are easy to get stuck in, like:

“don’t exercise”->”low energy”->”don’t exercise”

The more repetitions the stronger the arrows get, increasing the gravitational pull.

How to escape? There are a few ways: One way to escape behavior loop is to totally shift context, all of your behaviors are contextual, so shifting contexts can work. But you may find yourself in the same trap again depending on the strength of the arrows

This is my aquarium.

It has an algae problem (black fuzzy stuff on the rocks).

There are two approaches to taking care of the algae: means-ends, and conditions-consequences ImageImage The means-ends approach looks at the end--get rid of the algae--and figures out the means--try algae-killing chemicals, remove as much as possible with a wire brush, etc.

My current front page is...forgettable.

To fix that, I started by looking at the front page of my favorite bloggers.

What are they showcasing?

Here's some things I loved about the sites I looked at: @stephsmithio's page has a unique, memorable design. Her projects are front and center, reinforcing the 'indie hacker' persona.

Neat trick: highlighting makes it easier to quickly scan her bio.

I don't car about cars, or sports, or wealthy people blowing excessive amounts of money, but I love Formula1.

After enduring an entire season of Mercedes dominance, we finally were treated to an amazing race at Austria

Here's why Formula 1 is my favorite sport. A thread 👇 1a/ Logistics: F1 is the world's most expensive travelling circus.

Races are held in 5 continents, at 21 races, often in back to back weeks, 1000s of miles apart. Not only do teams bring cars and spare parts, they bring entire buildings to each race, cheekily called motor homes

1/ Mini Metro is a minimalistic subway layout game.
The clean animations and procedural audio make for an addicting experience.
👉 2/ While on the surface it's just a game, Mini Metro can teach us a lot about Urban Planning, the Theory of Constraints, and leaving slack in a system.

1/ Last week, I showed how knowledge workers can borrow the concept of periodization from weightlifters. Instead of trying to improve everything at once and failing, we can spend periods of focused time developing new skills or creating new things.
2/ If ordered properly, each period can build on the last, resulting in an incredible progression of skill.
