The last few Captain America issues have been much more like the first 12 issues than whatever was going on with Coates for a while. The art is serviceable but not great, but the story is much more interesting and taps into the paranoia and dread that made the first year so good It’s interesting to read Steve Rogers written by a black man—well meaning but also full of blind spots. A part of the system while at odds with it, trying to somehow justify it and reform it simultaneously.

I did not like this issue but it might be some of Bagley’s best work ever. He really knows how to display Peter’s emotions without big cheats with the eyes. Stark use of shadow sets the mood well for the (dumb) conflict and he is just phenomenal at Spidey action ImageImageImageImage That every other spider person is convinced that there is no downside to the crazy guy in the ski mask turning the bad guys into docile dopes and Peter should let him do it to Norman is a hard sell, for me

Rise of Kyle Ren gave me none of the story about Ben Solo I wanted to read. Thinking about this more and getting mad. Covers the least interesting part of the story, AFTER he destroyed the temple(how he do dat) but before he becomes a full acolyte of Snoke.

Nothing has made the corporate assault on internet access clearer than this pandemic. Comcast is completely incapable and unwilling to support teachers or students with reliable internet that they pay hundreds of dollars for. No twitter handle is less accurate than @comcastcares If we had a congress that understood technology or was even at a lower average age than 67 we might get some laws or regulations that forced telecom companies to stop throttling service artificially and encourage competition. Instead we have @SpeakerPelosi and @SenSchumer

Reading a lot about Kirby to fully appreciate New Gods as if I am really going to write the in depth analysis I think it deserves and this from the Mark Evanier blog was nice to see. Image Also you could have surmised all of this from reading New Gods. What a treasure this man was

I find this unlikely Image This issue credits Bagley on the cover but not on the credits page but he definitely does a couple pages so that’s weird

This is great pacing for a final page reveal from Romita & Conway. The 3 vertical panels before the splash break up the pace from the prior page’s more traditional grid &adds a sense of dread, drawing your attention to the coming danger& the page turn becomes genuinely thrilling ImageImageImage This is Amazing #SpiderMan 112

Pundits and politicians have no idea why people are so mad as to take to the streets. They just don’t get it. If you can’t see the rooting dictatorship in front of you, you’re going to be shocked with the level of revolt if he does win. Will you still tut tut when he has the military start shooting protestors? When the police violence starts happening to white people as well as black in broad daylight will you still tone police?

Lol at people calling Jim Lee’s commission prices sickening. Sure in the sense that it’s sickening people have thousand dollars to spend on art but all the prices he posted completely align with how valuable his time is between his full time publishing role and contract artwork He is one of the most celebrated comic book artists in the modern era—you don’t commission work from a world renowned artist for a hundred bucks.

If Dems wanna court young voters just put "student loan forgiveness" as a major part of your economic recovery plan. But they don't actually care about young voters so they won't. It's so easy. Such a political win for an entire generation decimated by 2 economic collapses But of course they don't care about young voters

Last 4 years have really brought out how clear it is that the multi-layered "law and order" structure of governance is a colossal failure for the United States, its democracy, and rights it purports as 'essential.' After Trump won a whole slew of liberals rushed to lionize Jim Comey, who blew up the election for his own ego a couple weeks before votes were cast. Comey was a cop. But liberals decided he was a hero, & Republicans, who love cops, decided he was a monster. They attacked the FBI

Spent 45 minutes listening to my neighbors’ drunk friend talking at the top of his lungs out front of my house before I had to get out of bed to ask them to be quiet. I should be able to sleep with my window open! My body is still shaking from the nerves. Probably not gonna get back to sleep. Might as well start work. 🙄

DC Universe being shut down is just another sign that WB has always considered comics a loss leader and a novelty farm to get ideas for their movies. They do not care about the infinitesimal readership of comic books. There is no desire to maintain a historical archive of their groundbreaking, culturally important art. Comics on-demand is not worth the cost. DC is all but dead. The best we can hope for is that they allow Comixology to run what they did archive, but there will be no additions
