STORY: An independent review launched in the wake of the arrest of serial killer Bruce McArthur has identified “serious flaws” in how missing person cases have been handled by Toronto police.

TODAY: More than 3 years after the arrest of Bruce McArthur, the results of an independent, “extensive examination and investigation” into TO police handling of missing persons cases is set to be released at 11am.

thestar.com/news/gta/2021/… Most of McArthur’s victims were of Middle Eastern or South Asian descent, some were homeless or had a precarious immigration status. The report will make recommendations for “effective, discrimination-free investigations and better police relations with affected communities."

ICYMI, the Toronto Police Services Board postponed its discussion of recommendations to address growing demand for policing reform, saying more time is needed for broader public consultation.

The meeting is set to go ahead now.
