Here's a story I've told before but I want to tell again!

It's called, "THE FOLLY OF LIMITLESS LIBERTIES" and there are so many different applications that it can fit into

Eat well before reading this THREAD🤪🤣 1. A few years ago, my pregnant dog went to the poultry to give birth and by the laws of the land, the puppies can be called chickens (by virtue of their place of birth) or dogs...

1. In primary school I was introduced to arithmetic and the various operations used in dealing with it i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It was very straightforward until questions began to surface like

2 + 3 x 4 = ?

THREAD 2. I knew the answer to each individual operation, but depending on which you did first, your answer could either be 14 or 20.

In reality, both answers are correct but once BODMAS was introduced, then a specific sequence ought to be followed.

Previously, God was always no.1 in my life (there were 4 constants that juggled positions except God)

I constantly had guilt & didn’t have peace cos God couldn’t be no.1 all the time

Peace came when I removed God from no.1 & the list entirely

God is now centre, not numbered The other 3 things on my permanent list are:

1. nation
2. Family
3. Career

And obviously, you can see how God being no.1 all the time causes an issue especially as things change in the circumstances of the other 3.

Now, God is the reason for my pursuing all 3 diligently

1. For a couple of months, I noticed that I had become rather forgetful & could promise to call back or visit but totally forget; or would start going somewhere & forget where I was heading. Worse, when I am reminded, it wouldn’t really bother me as much as it normally would. 2. I started getting concerned that I had become “too” aloof, uncaring and unemotional! I say “too” because I have consciously trained myself to be quite detached and I thought I had overdone it and now become totally detached!

But that wasn’t the case at all!

Dear @GarShehu let me explain what you obviously refuse to come to terms with:

1. Patriotism: if anyone in govt does or has done anything that when brought to public, brings disrepute to the nation, dignity snd patriotism demand you save the country from ridicule by resigning 2. From the disgusting backdrop of @OfficialAPCNg former chairman’s statement that “once you join the party, your sins are forgiven”, your entire defense is immoral.

3. We are taking terrorism and human lives lost, not views on farming methods!

Please try and understand this!

Don't read if you have religious thin skin!

Here's something I struggled with & I know may young people do as well.

If indeed God is "all-powerful" created everything "good", then how is it that the devil is powerful enough to distort what the all-powerful God did?

THREAD Is it that:

1. God is complicit in what the devil does since he "allows" it

OR

2. the devil is more powerful than God

Neither of these 2 scenarios is pleasant to the religious mind and the defence is often "you cannot understand the ways of God" or something equally feeble

The @cenbank is being rather disingenuous on this printing money matter.

So, without joining issues, let me attempt to lay an extremely simple background.

THREAD There was a time just a few decades ago when money ONLY meant cash. So for a central bank to increase money supply, they had to physically inject cash & the only way to have done that was to PRINT the money in a mint.

The term printing money was synonymous with creating money!

1. When a couple have sex & get pregnant, the pregnancy isn’t seen as punishment, but as consequence

Driving from Lagos to Ibadan on reserve tank, my car stops in the middle of nowhere, that’s the consequence of my ignorance

There’s a difference between consequence & punishment 2. Once you understand that an event is Consequence, you are forced to understand the reasons behind it and how to take remedial action.

Humans will attempt, and often succeed, to understand and therefore control consequcne.

I’ve got some interesting responses to this so I’ll like to demystify a commonly used but misleading saying!

If you study the Bible to extract the nature of God, you will most definitely find that God prioritizes “efficiency” and is NOT wasteful about resource allocation

THREAD In efficiency, you want to use the least power to achieve the most result, right?

Someone asked me if I have given sight to the blind. Of course it was a joke, but yes I have. As a matter of fact, I have given sight to more people than Jesus is recorded to have.

There’s a growing population that, due to hopelessness, prefer death to life & though they won’t take their own lives, have no objection losing it for a cause, no matter how trivial.

When this group revolts, we’re all in trouble cos neither threats nor guns will deter them 1/4 More than 70% of our population are in this “at risk” age range with energy & creativity but no education to steer them constructively, no hope of a better future nor justice/equity to contain their frustration or compensate them

The energy will eventually be used against us

A lot of tweets in the last few days have shown me that there’s still a lot of education to be done on the nature of poverty & though very related, Poverty is not the same as being poor.

Poverty is a state of mind while being poor is a state of cashlessness.

THREAD! What do I mean by poverty is a state of mind?

It’s the state of mind that is perpetually anticipating lack. You tend to create a life in the future but with little or none of the resources you have today & so, no matter what you have, you will want more, whether useful or not.

The Recent events in Lagos regarding the protests have been extremely disturbing for me and here’s what I have to say:

THREAD

1. In 2014, Facebook performed an experiment using colors to change emotions of users. It worked but users were unaware.

forbes.com/sites/kashmirh… 2. I am a firm believer that the global reaction to covid was exaggerated because social media amplified the impact and therefore anyone refusing to react wouldve been seen as irresponsible. A catch22 situation was created.

Alright stop, collaborate & listen...
Who EXACTLY is a “thug”?
Why are they so easily available?
Why are YOU not a thug?
What do you have that they don’t?

If politicians use thugs so frequently, answering these questions will help disempower them! 1/4

#EndSARS #BuildStructure If one has no sustainable source of livelihood & concern is personal & immediate gratification, that person has a high potential to be “bought” cheap.

If that person has low trust for govt institutions in a society with no social safety-net yet rampant display of opulence 2/4

I know we are all concentrating on the #EndSARS campaign, but here is a thread on some financial information regarding the state of the country's debt that we should all analyse and research!!

We are not all finance people, so it'd be short and as direct as possible

THREAD While working in a bank, HR didn't allow staff loans if the repayment was more than 30% of your take home!

This is a key reason why I don't agree with those who quote DEBT:GDP ratio because GDP DOES NOT pay debt.

Pay more attention to the debt service/revenue ratio.

Here’s a story I wrote in 2018 that has relevance today (with events around Covid and CAMA)

THREAD

Hindsight they say, is 20/20 & it’s often easy to look back & see what should’ve been & to see why exactly the string of “coincidences” happened the way they did. 2. “Peter go visit & share with that Gentile called Cornelius!”

Still, it took 3 visions before Peter went & God must’ve said
“Can’t work like this & save the world using 3 visions per person”.

So, God locked down an overzealous religious bigoted killer called Saul of Tarsus.

Someone forwarded this awesome message to me and I wish I knew the author to thank him/her.

It raises a valid question we never ask because we think we know the answer

THREAD MEN SHOULD KNOW THEY MUST STRIVE TO KEEP THEIR NAMES ALIVE, IT IS NOT THEIR SONS OR DAUGHTERS THAT WILL DO THAT ...

Spartacus died in 71 BC.

Today millions of people know him.

We all know him. Our children also know him.

Same story, 2 points of view:

THREAD

MY VERSION

1. I noticed a colleague always had lunch at a particularly run down bukka so one day, I offered to take him somewhere "nice" for lunch. He was rather reluctant but he eventually agreed.

Honestly, I seemed more excited than him 2. This wasn't my regular lunch place as it was barely affordable but I was just too happy to "do some good" to the "less privileged".

Lunch was rather awkward cos I kept trying to keep a conversation going while he ordered modestly and kept sneaking a glance at his watch

One of my greatest blessings is also one of my greatest curses: that I can see & understand completely different & opposite perspectives.

Though I have my position, that I see & understand the opposite perspective doesn’t mean I agree with it.

This gives me patience It forces me to wait and get as much information as possible, to stand in their shoes of everyone & feel their pain, anger or joy.

Then, I am able to engage them at their own level even if I dislike or disagree with them

It helps me separate the person from their circumstance

2 years ago I wrote a story about the science of the 10 plagues of Egypt which likely culminated in a Limnic eruption

facebook.com/892190202/post…

I'll reproduce it here:

THREAD 1. Though the volcanic eruption was hundreds of miles away, though we only heard about it on the news, little did we know that the impact would be felt so close to home. Well, we were on holiday in a remote town and that was home for now.

Imagine that like @yinkanubi you have a favorite amala joint on your street but on one day, you crave an exotic meal.

You drive 2hours, go past a great pounded yam bukkas, go past Ghana high & others like it & even an amazing Jamaican restaurant.

But you crave what you crave You then land at this amazingly decorated restaurant that has everything you dreamed of on its menu

But when you order prawn cocktails or pan seared salmon or Steak au poivre, one by one, you’re told that what you want is “out of stock” then you’re told that all they have is...

I want to write today about a very masculine term that has led to many a sexual harassment of women:

"GREEN LIGHT"

Not many men know that "green light" is not permit for sex and I'll break it down as best as I can

THREAD! 1. If you are driving down a long road that has various traffic lights at the junctions, the green light at the first junction doesn't not mean you can go all the way to the end! At every junction you respect what the light says & you must comply.

Approaching women is the same!
