Today, I’m thinking about Jeannah Danys Dinabongho Ibouanga, a Gabonese student who was murdered in Turkey on/around last year, March 26, in Karabük. The third hearing of the case against her alleged murderer will take place next Monday, April 29. 🧵#GabonluDina #DinaİçinAdalet On the left is a picture of Jeannah Danys Dinabongho Ibouanga, "Dina", wearing gold round frame glasses. On the right is a Black woman with a sign that reads "Adalet ben Dina'yım" or Justice I am Dina", which echoes the French call for recognition of murdered Black peoples, "je suis". Ibouanga, “Dina”, came to Turkey to pursue her dream of becoming an engineer. On the influence of her cousin, she applied and was accepted to Karabük University. She arrived in November 2022 and a mere five-six months later, her body was found in Filyos Çayı/Yenice River. A picture of a smiling Dina on the left, awash in sunlight and bright colors. On the right, there is a picture of Dina and an unnamed friend.
