1) Western states have allowed right-wing populist movements to misuse their democratic institutions and mechanisms (i.e. legislative processes in France, popular initiative referendums in Switzerland, E/O & Courts in US, etc.) to push their Islamophobic agenda and measures.

2) They've allowed these movements to institutionalize/democratize #Islamophobia and hence legitimize harassment and violence against a minority that should, in principle, be able to fully enjoy its fundamental rights.

3) It is now evident that constitutional measures that were taken in the aftermath of WWII to forestall the resurgence of fascism in the West are no longer adequate to protect yet another minority from systematic and institutionalized harassment.

4) The West can no longer afford to turn a blind eye to this reality. The recent massacre in #Christchurch should serve as a wake-up call to Western governments and civil societies to try and rectify this path whose injudiciousness and madness should've been self-evident by now.

5) It is up to Muslim-majority countries and international organizations - namely the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - to treat this issue as a priority and take all necessary diplomatic measures to ensure it is rectified.
