In the early morning the Alarmphone was in contact with a boat with 75ppl in the SAR zone of #Malta. Now the boat is not reachable anymore. Since hours MRCC Malta refuses info if they spotted the boat and finally started the rescue operation.

The people tell us they spent 36h on sea now, they are exhausted, hungry and thirsty. They did not see one rescue asset yet. MRCC #Malta received all relevant info: we demand immediate rescue by them now!

First Alarm Phone #SOS alert to MRCC #Malta was at 5.55 CEST. We provided info including the satellite phone number of the boat in distress. Still no rescue! Non-assistance even in Maltese #SAR zone?

According to @TheTimesofMalta, one of the busiest days for #Malta in recent history in terms of #migrant arrivals. 270ppl rescued, 99ppl currently being rescued. Unclear if that's the AlarmPhone case with presumed 75ppl. More boats currently in distress.

We have now learnt that the boat in distress in the Maltese SAR zone was rescued by #Maltese authorities. The exact number of people on board unclear so far. #safepassage @Refugees
