#AirPollution matter in the #SupremeCourt: Central Govt snubs #OddEven policy, says it hasn't impacted pollution at all.

Former AG Mukul Rohatgi appears for #Delhi Govt - - perhaps for the first time. #SupremeCourt says he will have to explain the effects of #OddEven if it has really helped.

Delhi tells #SupremeCourt that pollution level gets reduced by 5-15% during the #OddEven. Rohatgi concedes result will be better if no exemption is given under the scheme.

#RightToBreathe: Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) says #OddEven can't benefit more than 4%.

#RightToBreathe: #SupremeCourt observes #OddEven may not be a permanent solution especially when CPCB says cars constitute 3% of the #pollution. Agency adds garbage dumps, construction wastes & Road dusts are also major contributors to the #pollution as well.

"We can try to control pollution but nature isn't in our control. This is what happens when nature is misused," remarks #SupremeCourt.

#OddEven will only affect the lower middle class but not the affluent ones since they have multiple cars, says #SupremeCourt. It adds #OddEven isn't a solution but public transport could be and nothing has been done about that. #RightToBreathe

#SupremeCourt, in its order today, has noted down that #OddEven hasn't helped much in reducing pollution. It has also expressed displeasure over non-compliance of its directions by various authorities. It has summoned chief secretaries of #Delhi, Haryana, UP & Punjab on Nov 29.
