Omoyele Sowore is the publisher of Sahara Reporters. After a brush with death, he left Nigeria in 1999 for the United States of America (USA).
Cultists suspected to be students of the University of Lagos had attacked him, leaving him for dead. He was rescued by fellow students.
In 2006, he founded Sahara Reporters in New York in defence of the common good. He studied Geography and Planning at the University of Lagos and
bagged a Masters degree from the prestigious Columbia University in the United States.
His life has moved from a childhood of hardship to an adulthood of struggle for a better society. As the student union president of the University of Lagos from 1992 - 1994, he led students
protests against the highhandedness of the military. He did this in the most dangerous of circumstances.
The fisherboy from Kiribo in Ondo State has come of age. He can’t stand the leadership decadence in Nigeria anymore. To all who cares to listen, he says the time for
revolutionary leadership is now, the reason on February 25, 2018, he declared his intention to run for president in 2019.
