#TelanganaEncounter case in the #SupremeCourt: State Govt tells the court that there is no doubt about the identity of the four accused rapists. CCTV cameras recorded them, one riding lady doctor's scooty, another buying petrol to burn her.

Telangana Govt maintains the accused snatched guns from two cops, fired and they got killed in a retaliatory fire. All records are intact to show this and that inquiry is on.

As #CJI asks if accused fired from the revolvers, State Govt, through Sr adv Mukul Rohatgi, says they did fire; there is an FIR in this regard. The shots however missed the cops.

GS Mani, petitioner lawyer, points out this FIR is against dead accused.

CJI says the SIT inquiry may go on but the court is inclined to appoint a judge to hold a parallel inquiry.

State opposes this, saying a parallel inquiry will be against the mandate of the law. SC has earlier appointed judges to monitor SITs.

#Telangana: No.. There is no reason to prosecute them at this moment.

#CJI: People should know the truth. We may order their prosecution right away. Don't resist an inquiry.

#CJI: The trial against accused in this case is of no consequence since all four are dead now. They can't present their case at all. It will only be policemen giving their evidence. Be more fair...the trial will end up being a mockery.

Role of media also questioned by #SupremeCourt in disseminating information that might influence a fair trial.

"We don't want to gag media..except in a case like #Ayodhya where mediation was confidential. There has to be some balance," remarks #CJI.
