An interesting recent addition to the collection, a book that plunges into the historical linkages of a mammoth epic. The connections are perhaps easier to make as I have visited most of the excavated sites mentioned, esp Kaushambi.

More recent additions, these from the world book fair, in Delhi. A massive 3-volume listing of #hiddenheritage monuments in #Odisha. Amazed that the govt's publications division was giving this set away at a throwaway price.

More from the book fair: the memoirs of Britain's best known WW II commander and a book on personal anecdotes from the war.

Most of the works of Vrindavan Lal Verma are built around historical locations and characters. The first one I read was Garh Kundar, built around oral traditions of a fort in #Bundelkhand. These new additions promise to be as good.

A little book on three of the best known #Hoysala temple sites on the #Karnatakatrail. The 11th in an excellent series on Deccan architecture brought by @JaicoBooksIN . The series encompasses everything from the Gothic architecture of #Mumbai to the Kakatiya sites.

@JaicoBooksIN Enjoying re-reading this Enid Blyton book, which was gifted to my mother back in 1963 and was passed onto me. I love the illustration style as much as the writing.

@JaicoBooksIN Two good reads on #Varanasi if one wants to do a walking tour of the city today and also understand the historical context of the places within. #ExploreUP

@JaicoBooksIN The most recent acquisition to the collection, this outstanding listing of #Varanasi's heritage by @INTACHIndia. Many of the sites showcased with pictures and descriptions. List touches over 1200 structures.

Staying at home is not boring if one is in the company of good books. Such as these, among them works by fine, contemporary authors such as @MulaMutha, @sanjeevsanyal & @UnamPillai, to name a few.
