”You attack American citizens you forfeit your life”, says Trump.
- In this sentence, "You" could refer to a foreign dignitary on a diplomatic mission - in a third country - from a state not at war with the U.S.
- "Attack" could mean anything! It could mean just any act, by any non-state actor, NOT attributable to a state by international legal standards. "Attack" here doesn't have to meet accepted definitions and thresholds required by international law either.
- In this context, "American citizens" really means members of ISIS, Al-Nusra Front and paid mercenaries. In fact, actual American "civilians" owe a debt of gratitude to General #Soleimani for his tireless efforts against terrorism.
- "You forfeit your life" is mob slang which refers to the fact that the U.S believes it can operate outside the framework of Human Rights norms, IHL and international law in general.
