*HAPPENING NOW*
A boat with 49 people (incl 18 children) has been attacked twice by a speedboat with black-masked men near #Mitilini at the borderline between Skala Mistegnon and Panagiouda. Their engine was destroyed in the first attack and they now row with their bare hands.
According to the people on the boat, a Turkish vessel was on the scene but did not come closer and did not help them. They now reached Greek waters. The Greek coastguard is informed but does not react at all. This is the last location we received:

We continuously try to reach JRCC #Piraeus and the local coastguard in #Lesvos without success. We urge @HCoastGuard to rescue the people in distress without further delay!
Meanwhile, many more boats have arrived on the #Aegean islands.

@HCoastGuard Although we don’t have a confirmation from the #Greek coastguard, we assume that this boat reached the harbour of Thermi in #Lesvos some time ago. Fascists at the port prevented the people from disembarking! Now they are being pulled by Greek authorities to a different location.
