Classics of #IslamicPhilosophy #IslamicMysticism translation of the so-called #TafsirIbnArabi which is in fact #Tawilat of #AbdalRazzaqKashani (d. c. 1336) translated by Sayyid Javad Hashimi ‘Ulya in 2016 #Intisharat_e_mawla 1/
Anyone who reads this carefully especially on the question of the #Mahdi cannot help but wonder about the notion that #Kashani was not #Shii as discussed by #PierreLory global.oup.com/academic/produ… 2/
The same translator rendered the classic #JamialAsrar of Sayyid Haydar Amuli (d. after 1385) into Persian in 1998 which provides the metaphysical argument for the complete compatibility of #ShiiIslam with #IbnArabiSchool 3/
In his #Tafsir Amuli famously stated that any understanding of the #Quran requires a bringing together of the exoteric and the esoteric the former in the form of #Tafsir of #Tabrisi and of #Zamakhshari 4/
There is a forthcoming article on the #Tafsir of Amuli in #JQS and also a monograph study by Toby Mayer at the #IIS 6/
What is needed is a more serious study of Amuli’s hermeneutics that brings together his exegesis with his more metaphysical works especially the ones that remain in manuscript (some in autograph form in #ChesterBeatty and other collections) 7/
As an addendum to this, the best work on Amuli is Khanjar Hamiya which was published around 14 years ago and translated by #Intisharat_e_mawla recently into #Persian 4a/
But it is still the case that there are works in manuscript and other sources including #ijazat that have yet to be studied - there is still plenty to do on Amuli 4b/
