Do you worry about keeping people #engaged in your #onlinelearning?
#virtualclassrooms have evolved to include interaction from your participants. Chat function, reactions, webcams, mics - we need to use all of these technologies in order to make sure we're creating the most interactive experience we can.
Finding your #purpose: what are people supposed to get out if this experience? What do I want my #learner to do?
#elearning #virtualclassroom #onlinelearning #remotelearning
You need #feedback - to set up lessons, to provide support, to measure engagement.
Narrow your #focus. Cut down your content to what's going to inspire #feeling in your participants, because feeling inspires #action!
Success isn't getting through the content - it's teaching the essential things that your participants MUST KNOW when they're done with it!
What do learners want from your content? That feedback gives you your playbook. Running an exchange is an effective and efficient way to drill down on your learners needs, by the way 😉 thoughtexchange.com
You need to make an emotional connection between your learner and your must-learn content. Provoking emotional responses will embed that content in your learners' memory. Watch #InsideOut - they explain it well.
@dessalen says: don't let your learning end up in the rational dumping ground!
Ask about their fears/concerns. Are your learners feeling anxiety around a subject? Give them some joy and happiness to assuage it! And to help them remember it.
Anywhere there's something your #virtuallearners must remember, put a #stickynote on it. Those include: hands up questions, anecdotes/stories, visuals, dog toys (just kidding)
Just ask yourself this: does this "thing" I'm doing invoke a feeling that will drive the behaviour I'm trying to teach?
Active Practice: much harder to do in a #virtualclassroom than for in-person learning. Ask yourself - if your learners only tuned in for 5 minutes, what 5 minutes would be the most valuable? Do your #activepractice on that!
Use a tool that has #breakoutrooms and have them talk about or solve a problem around your most important content.
Breakout room structure is made super easy with #Thoughtexchange - choose a thought from your top thoughts list and have people discuss it in their breakout room!
Thanks to everyone who joined us for #SuddenlyRemote today! Stay tuned to our events calendar for upcoming events: thoughtexchange.com/events-calenda…
