How I cope with
#ZoomFatigue
#workingfromhome

As someone who already works from home and spends much of their time on the telephone, I wasn’t prepared for the exhaustion of spending time on video conferencing calls.

The maximum has been 5 hours a day. Luckily, that is the exception rather than the rule.

But whilst #lockdown continues, #ZoomFatigue is going to be an ongoing issue for many.
Here are some tips to make it easier:

1. Switch off the gallery view setting if there are a huge number of attendees. It can be really distracting to be looking at so many faces who could also be shifting around in their seats. It’s so much easier to listen to a speaker when you’re only looking at them.

2. Switch off your camera. This means you can keep moving- stretching, getting off the chair, walking around without worrying about what you look like or being a distraction.

3. Change positions. For the last few meetings where I was not expecting to talk, I was able to get creative and have attended whilst:
a) sitting on a physioball
b) lying on a foam roller
c) Sitting in a stretch ( inner thigh, hamstring, calf, piriformis, back and neck)

4)It’s worth noting that most home offices won’t be ergonomic and so not as comfortable - which will have a significant effect on your back, neck, shoulders and could lead to stiffness and headaches and even RSI.

5) Try a sitting aid such as a sitfit wobble cushion.
