#OTD in 1954, #SCOTUS unanimously ruled school segregation unconstitutional.

Brown v. Board of Education, argued by Thurgood Marshall & @NAACP_LDF, has been essential to making the promise of the 14th amendment's equal protection clause a reality.

#BrownvBoard was the result of years of legal strategy to end racial segregation in schools--a Jim Crow era practice that legally relegated Black people to separate, under-resourced facilities compared to those for white people.

#BrownvBoard's impact is apparent in every aspect of American life, including our justice system.

The case helped sever white supremacy from the legal system, opened the courthouse doors to Black people & asserted equal practice of law for Black lawyers.
