So it's high time we reformed bail laws to correct this. Prisons are bursting at seams with unsentenced prisoners. Accused should get bail unless unacceptable risk to public safety. Govt knows this, so let's not delay bail reform. #SpringSt #Greens

Under this Andrews Labor Govt's "tough on crime" approach, from Dec 2014 to March 2020, prisoner numbers have increased 25%, and for First Nations people 75%. Locking up more Aboriginal people for offences linked to disadvantage does not keep 'us safe'. #SpringSt #Greens

This state government has doubled the imprisonment of First Nations women and then has the nerve to brag about allocating $30 million dollars to try and fix their own policies. Time for real reform. Very few women really need to be kept in prison for our safety. #Greens

Latest Ravenhall prison will cost $2.5 billion and according to the auditor-general it can't properly rehabilitate prisoners because of the number of unsentenced prisoners churning through on remand. #SpringSt
