.@StevePriceMedia has used this article from September 2020 to back up his lies on @theprojecttv last night.

A thread ⬇️⬇️⬇️ break-down on the article and Steve's lies.
#auspol #springst #thisisnotjournalism #TheProjectTV

theage.com.au/politics/victo…
Steve's Tweeted today:

"As I said on The Project last night ADF support was offered to the Andrews Govt for quarantine from the start"

This is an entirely different argument from what he presented last night.

Support and Security are different and the Coate Report agrees.
Yesterday @StevePriceMedia was claiming that Vic didn't want the ADF to RUN quarantine. Support to Quarantine is different to RUNNING quarantine or providing SECURITY.

Steve knows he is wrong and now he is trying to change his argument from running quarantine to supporting it.

I received this disgusting and transphobic flyer from the @ACLobby in my letterbox today. The scare tactics are only half-truths at best. A thread. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

'Parents like you' only applies if you are a parent that is transphobic or homophobic and you try to suppress your child's sexual and/or gender identity.

For most parents, this doesn't apply. A good parent loves their child no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity.
A good parent would seek medical advice on such a matter and as Attorney-General @JaclynSymes said during the debate on this bill:

"...nothing in this bill changes the advice, support and medical treatment that a qualified medical professional deems appropriate."

Full page ad in @theage from broad coalition today telling Victorian Treasurer @timpallas & Vic MPs to drop plans to tax Electric Vehicles

A tax only approach to EVs tax will harm Victorian's access to cleanest most affordable EVs

#springst #auspol

australiainstitute.org.au/post/25-organi…
Victoria is the only place in the world that is bringing in a tax on EVs with no incentives to balance it out

EVs are cheaper to fuel, to maintain and good for climate but the cheapest models aren't coming here cause of moves like this from @timpallas

theage.com.au/politics/victo…
Australia has one of the lowest uptakes of EVs in the OECD and there are no federal policies to drive EV uptake or even curb transport emissions.

The vacuum of leadership at the federal level is leaving states to introduce harmful approaches like this

now is the *worst* time to slap on an 11% #EV tax.

Today the Victorian Parliamentary committee for Legal and Social Issues reported on its inquiry into anti-vilification laws. Its recommendations equate to 18 on steroids and should frighten any Victorian or Australian that values free speech. #springst THREAD
The broadening of protected attributes under the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act include everything on the identity politics pyramid would make Victorian anti-vilification law section completely unworkable and dangerous.
The aim of these recommendations are sinister. They don't seek to protect people, but to silence debate. No one in Victoria will ever be able to have a conversation about issues like women in sport for example without fear of criminal or civil legal action.

It's not complex at all. We want a host and program that is balanced. We want a program that holds the current Government to account, rather than the opposition. We want a program that presents corruption as a continued pattern with this Government rather than isolated events.
When Gladys lies to ICAC we don't want #abc730 to conclude she has done nothing wrong. We don't want a host that lies about being trapped in Victoria. We don't want Richard Colbeck given an interview with softball questions when he finally accepts an interview.

#lockdown3 is killing my sense of joy.
Not gonna lie I had a little weep earlier. No sense in dramatising it - I’ll survive - but the point is like to make is that I’m fairly resilient and these days only responsible for myself - imagine the lot of people with employees and families and friends who are falling apart.
We’re stuck - we have no objective standard to give us hope and @DanielAndrewsMP has a track record where even if we had a roadmap, we’d know that we only get half of what was promised at every step...

So we have ambiguity and leaders who gaslight us, and won’t keep their word.

Today we've heard a lot from the Labor luvvies about @jeff_kennett - a man who left office BEFORE S-Club-7 released Bring It All Back in Australia... So... Umm... I guess "Don't stop, never give up, hold your head high and reach the top!" #auspol #springst
When @jeff_kennett left office, I was making a fortune doing Y2k testing - he left office before the Republic Referendum, before the Sydney Olympics, before Rove had a television show on commercial TV... It was a really long time ago... #auspol #springst
Do you remember Channel 7's gardening show "Ground Force"? It premiered a couple of months AFTER Kennett left office. Two Hands staring Heath Ledger hadn't yet premiered in cinemas when Kennett was in office. #springst #auspol

The guy on the left has been arrested again for breaching bail in connection with fringe Qanon / anti mask / 5G / vaccine / government protests. The guy on the right is Victorian opposition leader Michael O'Brien. #SpringSt
Same guy, different 'friend' on the right. Professional con artists who've perfected the art of getting arrested for show, then begging for donations with slick websites which raise eye-watering sums from gullible fans.
They're good at making money. In fact they sell the same MAGA merch as Victorian opposition leader Michael O'Brien.

THREAD: I really wish we didn’t have to talk about this person again, but we think the most fitting tribute to Margaret Court would be to ban LGBTQ+ conversion practices nationally, starting by passing the Bill currently before the Victorian Parliament.

#auspol #springst #LGBTIQ
This would unequivocally tell young LGBTIQ+ people everywhere that they are whole, loved and valid just as they are.

I hope one day Mrs Court sees the wonderful country that Australia is, and can be, when we recognise and value everyone who makes up our great nation, equally.
This way we can spend less time talking about the views of tennis players and more time tackling the mental health challenges and discrimination experienced by LGBTIQ+ people.

That's how we build an Australia where everyone is equal, no matter who they are or whom they love.

Firstly, the headline. Does anyone legitimately fear Dan? I know this is an opinion piece but when your view is nonsense it has to be called out. #auspol #springst #IstandwithDan
Our State Premiers (not just Dan) were thrust into the 'spotlight' as @ScottMorrisonMP delegated the pandemic response to the states. Morrison wasn't making decisions that mattered because is lazy and doesn't give a f**k. #auspol #springst #IStandwithDan #ParttimePM

As I've read the entire report on HQ, it is now time to look at the inevitably biased media coverage. This biased article is written by @EwinHannan. A thread. ⬇️⬇️

I thought the @australian was a National Newspaper? It's hard to believe that as the article doesn't mention the Federal Government once. This is despite the fact that the report mentions their errors several times. #auspol #springst #hotelquarantine #thisisnotjournalism
Coate clearly declares in her report that she couldn't confirm whether the ADF was available for front-line enforcement in HQ. Given that, this entire paragraph is terrible journalism.

LONG Thread:
The Coates Inquiry highlights a number of issues & failings in the Victorian Hotel Quarantine program. Many of these are within the Government & the Hotel Quarantine operation itself. This contributed to the start of Victoria’s large second wave of COVID infections.
Many people are accountable and to blame, the program should have had better oversight and been reviewed more thoroughly & in hindsight different decisions would be made.
What’s important is that we learn from this & ensure these issues NEVER happen again, in Vic or elsewhere.
However, those who seem obsessed with who hired security guards (that’s you @MichaelOBrienMP, @TimSmithMP 🦇, 🦞Guy) as the single cause of the 2nd wave are misguided & clearly STILL don’t understand the multiple factorial nature of the pandemic. Thank God you aren’t in charge.

The report makes it clear that National Cabinet and the Federal Government had no plan for hotel quarantine. 36 hours to set up HQ after the National Cabinet meeting. @ScottMorrisonMP and @GregHuntMP are pathetic. #auspol #springst #hotelquarantine
Hotel Quarantine was a rushed decision forced on the states from the Federal Government. @ScottMorrisonMP had no plan, the Federal Government contributed nothing. The travelers had arrived before HQ was even announced. Pathetic. #auspol #springst #hotelquarantine

Before I get started on the above article, I'd like to point out two things. One, @Melbchief has written a bunch of articles attacking Dan Andrews during COVID. Two, he wrote this article that suggests the ADF was on offer. We know different now. #auspol

1) Other states used Security Guards.
2) The ADF was NEVER on offer to run / provide security?

Last year the Greens set up an inquiry into Victoria's extinction crisis and the first public hearings kick off today.

Between 10:30am - 3pm we'll hear from Dr Gillian Sparkes, @DELWP_Vic, @ParksVictoria and @ZoosVictoria. You can tune in here: parliament.vic.gov.au/video-and-audi… #springst
There were already 700 plants, animals and insects at risk of extinction in VIC last year and the summer bushfires made that worse, destroying over 50% of the habitat for 185 rare and threatened species.

Hopefully this inquiry spurs the government to act now and stop extinction.
Victoria's Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability (Dr Sparkes) is up first.

She says her state of the environment report in 2018 assessed a massive 170 environmental 'indicators' and made 20 recommendations. #springst

This has been a year like never before.
And it demands a budget like never before.
Because if this pandemic has been a stark reminder of anything, it is that people matter more than the bottom line.
Yes, there are short‑term costs to the State’s financial position.
But by using the strength of our balance sheet, we are able to protect the budgets of households and businesses across Victoria.
We are putting our credit rating to work when it is needed most – to help Victorians now and into the future.
We are borrowing to make the necessary investments to drive a quicker and stronger recovery.
