1] Those inside #ZanuPF are convinced that #PATRIOTISM is a synonym for their party name
Those who find themselves outside the #MDC also begin labelling themselves #PATRIOTIC.
It would seem like #PATRIOTISM has a relationship with party affiliations
Ofcourse that is nonsense.
2] But ofcourse ZanuPF ceased to represent the ethos of PATRIOTISM a long time ago.
Infact, the formation of the MDC in 1999 was the greatest form of PATRIOTISM.
The nation had been derailed from the NATIONAL AGENDA promoting formation of a MOVEMENT by different constituencies.
3] PATRIOTISM is the embodiment of NATIONAL pride.
In a normal #democracy, you readily put party differences aside and rally behind national institutions.
You rally behind a #PRESIDENT whom you respect as a product of national processes.
He symbolizes a country's #SOVEREIGNTY
4] In a normal democracy,you respect the security forces because they are the embodiment of a nation's being.
You respect courts because they are superintendent over,by women & men of integrity
You respect the Con Court because it is the embodiment of the national constitution.
5] Sadly in Zimbabwe, none of that it true.
There is no SOCIAL CONTRACT.
The institution that derailed the NATIONAL AGENDA nolonger governs with the consent of the governed.
It has put in place a system of capture where everything is good for those who practice evil.
6] There can only be hope for the nation, if and when the NATIONAL QUESTION is phrased properly.
We can only answer the question if we understand it.
In an exam, it doesn't matter how good your handwriting is.
You still need to understand the question.
7] What is wrong in Zimbabwe is not Ministers.
Zim foreign policy sucked under Simbarashe Mbengegwi. Sucked under Mzembi. It sucks under SBM.
Agriculture collapsed under Made. It worse under Perence Shiri
The economy was a disaster under Chinamasa, its worse under a Professor.
8] Health sector sucked under Parerenyatwa. It sucks under DJ Biscuit.
State media was partisan under Jonso,Jokonya, Ndlovu. Its partisan under MM.
The police brutalized people under Chihuri. They brutalize under Matanga.
The army was partisan, under CGNDC & now under Valerio.
9] What is wrong in Zimbabwe is not the proposed constitutional amendments.
They make no difference.
Those proposing them have always acted unconstitutionally.
What's wrong is a culture of being above the constitution by individuals who KNOW they can mutilate a constitution.
10] So really, we can spend so much time demanding resignations & firing of Ministers.
The rot in Zimbabwe is far bigger.
We have institutionalized corruption.
We have institutionalized brutality.
We have institutionalized theft.
We have institutionalized misgovernance.
11] We need collective consciousness on where we are.
Retailers now demand USD
It affects you whether you voted for Zanu, or Khupe,or Chamisa,or Dr NM
It affects you even if you didn't vote.
Growing up, my beautiful mother would always say:
"kusema tsvina kuibvisa"
