1/@GregAbbott_TX - a day after arriving for a press briefing in a mask he immediately removed - just announced that the #Texas Texas Division of Emergency Management will begin distributing surgical masks to every Texan tested for #COVID19 at state-run mobile sites.

2/"Wearing a mask or facial covering in public is an effective way for Texans to protect themselves and others from the transmission of COVID-19," @GregAbbott_TX said. "This program helps ensure that Texans have the resources they need to effectively mitigate the spread..."

3/"...of this virus and keep themselves and their communities safe. I continue to urge all Texans to do their part by taking necessary precautions that will reduce the spread of COVID-19 throughout our state," @GregAbbott_TX said, although he has yet to require masks statewide.

4/The #Texas Republican convention is scheduled for July in #Houston when #COVID19 infections are expected to peak here. The convention is not requiring masks.
