Dale Nally, #ableg associate nat gas minister, now announcing the new #petrochemical program for Alberta. It'a a 10-yr, billion-dollar program, in which companies will receive grants when they build new petrochem facilities in the province. theglobeandmail.com/business/artic… #cdnpoli

Nally is very excited about this program, by the by. He says Alberta is taking action now to attract as much petrochemical investment as possible. The program starts this fall. He says it has the potential to bring 1000s jobs, billions of $ to Alberta. #ableg #cdnpoli

Nally says grants are way more attractive than royalty credits to the petrochem sector. Royalty credits have been the way successive #ableg governments have pursued investment in Alberta, btw... the PCs used them, the NDP used them too.

Oh and the #ableg government will continue the petrochemical diversification program (you might remember that one as a particular favourite of the NDP gvt). This new grant program will run alongside it.

Greg Moffatt, with the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada, says Alberta's new petrochem grant program is welcome news. He also says maybe it'll help convince the feds to look at ways to attract more petrochemical investments here. theglobeandmail.com/business/artic… #ableg #cdnpoli
