#Nunavut is officially #COVID19-free again.

Despite previously announcing it would remain as a "presumptive positive", the case reported on July 2 has been removed from the territory's website.

Nunavut remains the only region of #Canada without any confirmed #COVID19 cases. This is not to say the territory has been untouched by the disease, as the lockdown restrictions meant to safeguard against the epidemic have undoubtedly been difficult.

However, restrictions have been gradually loosening.

Isolation has been a key component of Nunavut's strategy for avoiding a potentially devastating outbreak of #COVID19. However, limited travel with some other parts of the country (without 14-day self-isolation) are resuming.

Nunavut has so-called "travel bubbles" with the Northwest Territories and Churchill, MB. These bubbles of unrestricted travel have been proposed in other places, most notably New Zealand and Australia, although the future of this proposal is uncertain.

Meanwhile, global travel remains heavily restricted. The EU will be accepting travelers from a handful of countries, including Canada. At the moment, the USA is not on that list.

A lot of interesting notes related to the nightly #COVID19 #Canada #OpenData release from the COVID-19 Canada Open Data Working Group tonight.

github.com/ishaberry/Covi…

As mentioned above, Nunavut is back to 0! 🥳

Also, BC released a new dataset that separates out cases among visitors to Canada, so we've reclassified some old cases in the BC dataset.

We also have a lot more cases than usual, since many places have ceased weekend reporting and thus "catch up" on Monday. Toronto reports M-W-F now, so they reported 120 cases today (3 days worth).

New Brunswick's reported testing numbers declined slightly from yesterday and we're not sure why. Also, many Ontario hospitals did not report hospitalization numbers today, so expect these to increase tomorrow (thanks, @covid_canada!).

Luckily, our #OpenData team is on top of all of this. A big thank you to our team, especially our co-founder @ishaberry2. @shelbysturrock, @GBrankston, @DrTanyaRossi, @Kamalraj_ach, @_MeghanONeill, @VinyasHarish, @JWright159, @XiaotingXie, @alisonesimmons + others not on Twitter.

Hospitalization data are from @covid_canada, another great source of Canadian COVID19 data.

Finally, more maps, charts, and trends are available on our group's dashboard.
