The #UK government has published a comprehensive guide to immigration to the country for #BNO citizens following the imposition of the #NSL: 1. Open a "Hong Kong BN(O) Visa’ for BN(O) citizens and their close family members from January 2021."

BNO passport holders from #HongKong will be able to apply for entering or remaining in the country for an initial period of 30 months, which is extendable by another 30 months, or a single period of 5 years. They will be able to work or study, but can't access public funds.
Once they have lived in the UK for 5 years, they can apply for settling in the UK, and after 12 months of staying in the country with that status, they can apply for British citizenship.
Individuals eligible for this route of the immigration needs to fit the following criteria: 1. Have BNO status (this doesn't need to be proved through a passport.) 2. Proof that they can accommodate and support themselves up to 6 months in the UK. 3. Get a TB certificate
4. pay a fee and the immigration health surcharge.
Before the #BNO immigration route comes into effect, #HongKong people with #BNO status can stay in the #UK as a visitor up to 6 months but they don't have the right to live, work or take up long-term study in the UK.
If a Hong Konger is not eligible to enter the UK under existing immigration route, the border officer may consider granting them "Leave Outside the Rules" at the UK border for up 6 months for them and their accompanying dependents.
To show a #HongKong poeple's BNO status, they need a passport to show proof of their identity. They can use a valid or expired BNO passport. If they don't have one, the Home Office can look up records.
