A fight broke out between two Naga kings, Sangan & Pathuman.Sangan- a Shiva Devotee.Pathuman- a Vishnu Devotee. Both were frequently debating about the supremacy of their respective god.The two went to goddess Parvati & appealed.

Sri Gomati Amman- a form of Parvati , performs penance from the tip of a needle for Shiva Darshana ,wanted to see Hari &Hara as one.
Shiva appeared as Sankara narayana as goddess wish to prove both gods are equal & that they can be attained only through love and sacrifice.
