@ProjectECHO I just wanted to share that as a #caregiver of two adult children with #chronicpain these screen shots feel incredibly biased. I have watched my husband & my children experience #stigma by medical professionals due to the fact they had/have #chronicpain 1/
my husband passed due to his illnesses #pancreascancer #hereditarypancreatitis. My kids live each day in #pain. We have tried many other options, some of which actually have caused life long injury. #Opioid pain medications have provided them some QoL. They have often 2/
been questioned if the pain is really that bad? Curious if you teach about malabsorption issues? Both my kids have them. Unfortunately due to lack of knowledge (even though throughout chart) about malabsorption in relation to all medications she has been accused 3/
about being an ‘addict’& ‘druggie’ these where words by #physician & hospital social worker. Luckily another med professional stepped in. They provided her a pain med - watching her. Checking her mouth. Another test done, yep no trace. For her hit & miss. The above screen shots 4
in my opinion encourage assumptions and not a critical look at all aspects of the issue. Sadly stigma of those on #pain medications due to #chronicpain continues to be perpetuated by organizations with a ‘voice’. I even am concerned with ‘tone’ of screen shots IF 5/
someone is dealing with #SUD. The #CDC has recognized harm & misrepresentation of #guidelines but these are being used to continue to support imho biased education that sadly it seems #projectECHO has implemented. If I am misunderstanding, or misinterpreted please I 6/
seek clarification. I want those w #SUD to access compassionate & quality care wo stigma. I want the exact same for those with #chronicpain 7/
