1/6 #COVID19 key concerns in 🇨🇦: Today, in lieu of a daily in-person update to the media, I have issued a Saturday statement discussing COVID-19 current epidemiology and trends in Canada. Read my statement in full here:

2/6 The weekly average for Canada’s #COVID19 daily case count has increased to 425 cases being reporting daily over the past week, compared to an average of 400 or less cases reported daily during the previous week.
3/6 Increases in #COVID19 cases have been observed in Western and Prairie regions of Canada, with British Columbia and Manitoba each reporting a 24 percent increase in weekly cases compared to last week.
4/6 Where #COVID19 cases are increasing, provinces are reporting outbreaks in healthcare settings including long-term care homes; workplaces including meat-processing plants; and in localised areas within small communities.
5/6 During August, outbreaks were also linked to food/drink/retail settings. These settings likely serve younger age groups that have had the highest incidence #COVID19, over many weeks.
