/5 #COVID19 key concerns in 🇨🇦 : Today, in lieu of a daily in-person update to the media, I have issued a Saturday statement discussing daily case counts as an indicator of COVID-19 disease activity. Read my statement in full here: canada.ca/en/public-heal…
/5 The continuing increase in daily case counts is concerning. Although well below the almost 1,800 cases reported daily at the peak of the initial wave in early May, we have been seeing an ↑ trend in this disease activity indicator.
/5 The most recent 7-day moving average now has us at 545 cases of #COVID19 being reported daily across 🇨🇦, exceeding the maximum number of daily cases reported during increased activity in mid-July.
/5 Local #publichealth continue to work hard to #TestandTrace, which is essential to interrupting transmission chains, keeping the infection rate low and controlling the #COVID19 epidemic on the #slowburn track we need.
/5 Increasing daily case counts tell us that #COVID19 spread is continuing. For now, #publichealth authorities indicate that #TestandTrace is currently keeping spread under manageable control, but this could change quickly.
