“Yes, this does break international law.”

Without a hint of embarrassment, @BrandonLewis confirms that the govt will break international law on EU Withdrawal Deal.

You gotta laugh!

"I’m a bit short of cash, so I'm to rob the bank but only in a very limited way?"

Top govt lawyer quits over @BorisJohnson proposal to break intn'l law,

Govt lawyers & civil servants are very risk averse.

It's good to see some taking a principled stand

"’Perfidious Albion’ is a pejorative phrase used in intn'l relations diplomacy to refer to alleged acts of diplomatic sleights, duplicity & treachery (with respect to perceived promises made to or alliances formed with other nation states) by monarchs or governments of the UK.”

“Britain has had the same foreign policy objective for at least the last five hundred years: to create a disunited Europe.”

This ‘Yes Minister’ clip from the early 1980’s says it all. Few in Europe will be surprised by this latest act of #Brexit sabotage.

Sir Humphrey's view of the UK's relationship with EU is spookily similar to #BorisJohnson's view in his 2001 book, Jottings on the Stump.

In 2001 @BorisJohnson was a Europhile & a Remainer & wrote that leaving the EU could “encourage a certain meanness in the national outlook.”

Democracies need to respect the rule of law

They must uphold it & not just pay lip-service to it

Our legal framework - national & international - is the bedrock upon which the country is built

We start playing around with those foundations at our peril.
