I sat in my 4th grade teacher's classroom that morning (thinking about my upcoming birthday) when a teacher ran into the room- tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Turn on the TV. Something happened in New York!"
Ms. Thompson stopped what she was doing & turned on the TV. Then everything went silent & seemed to move in slow motion.
We watched, in confused shock & horror, as the Twin Towers collapsed. We saw police & firefighters run into the danger as civilians ran away, as fast as they could, gray from dust & debris & gasping for fresh air.
We watched people jump out of windows in a desperate attempt to save themselves from sure death.
On 9/11, I'm reminded that we cannot #DefundThePolice. They run into the danger every single day. That day they ran into the danger again- not caring that they would most likely die.
Police & firefighters from all over then went to NY & volunteered their time to help.
Today, I'm remembering the lives lost & sacrificed on 9/11 & praying for the unity we all felt on 9/12.
Remember their sacrifice. #NeverForget #NeverForget911 #BackTheBlue #BackTheRed
