In the middle of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, employees of a German security company live in a different time. A Reich war flag hangs on the walls of a lounge, in the hallway the German army slogan "Do not complain,
fight" is emblazoned in Gothic script. Above the doors, also in old letters: "Operations Center", "Troop Kitchen" and "Latrine 1" and "Latrine 2". This can be seen in a video from 2017 that is available to a media company.
At the time, the Asgaard company was located in the middle of the Green Zone, only around 500 meters from the United Nations Office and less than a kilometer from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry. The situation in the political center of the Iraqi capital was no accident.
According to the managing director, the company guards "the diplomatic representation of an Arab superpower" in Baghdad. The company has already come under fire in the past, for example because it had accepted an order from a controversial politician from Somalia.
But now there are tougher allegations in the room. Not only the decoration in the Baghdad base indicated a glorification of the Nazi era.
