One of the so far unanswered questions about the coronavirus pandemic is that of transmission: Can Sars-CoV-2 also jump over several meters from one person to another? There are some indications for this,
such as mass contamination in large and poorly ventilated rooms. The main suspects are aerosols - droplets smaller than five micrometers, i.e. only about a tenth the diameter of a human hair.
In contrast to larger droplets that fall from the mouth or nose to the ground after a short distance, the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus is said to be able to literally float through the air in these aerosols.
Measured by the number of victims, the explosion at the Oppau nitrogen works was the biggest accident in the history of the German chemical industry and the biggest civilian explosion in Germany.
On the morning of September 21, 1921, at 7:32 a.m. in the factory of the Badische Anilin- & Soda-Fabrik, in Oppau, today part of Ludwigshafen am Rhein, there were two explosions of about 400 tons of ammonium sulfate nitrate, a fertilizer, in quick succession.
The catastrophe was triggered by the targeted use of loosening explosions within the fertilizer, which had a tendency to clump, which until then had been considered safe. The detonations damaged buildings 75 km from the scene of the accident.

Thailand has not let tourists into the country for months and has thus successfully isolated itself from the pandemic. BUT experts warn that Thailand will in return enter the worst recession in the country history.
The economy of Thailand depends on tourism since the beginning of April there have been no more tourists and no new infection with the corona virus for 2 months. According to a forecast, no country in Asia has been harder hit than Bangkok.
According to calculations by the central bank, economic output will decline by more than eight percent this year. The economists at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce even assume an economic slump of up to eleven and a half percent.
The shock is still fresh and it is profound. Well over one hundred individuals lost their lives in the devastating explosion in Beirut, and at present there are estimated to be around 5000 people injured.
A member of the German Embassy also lost her life. On behalf of the German Government, Foreign Minister Maas expressed his deepest sympathy to her relatives: “Our worst fears have been confirmed. We are deeply saddened by the death of our colleague.”
During a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, Maas pledged to initiate emergency measures. It is clear to Heiko Maas that “in this hour of need, we are there to help. The people in Beirut need to know that we will not abandon them.”
Almost 3000 (2750) tons of ammonium nitrate are said to have triggered the massive detonation that shook the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday evening.
The chemical is a salt of ammonia and nitric acid. It is used both in the manufacture of fertilizers and in the production of explosives. Now it became known that the Shiite militia Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, also had access to ammonium nitrate in #Germany.
According to my own information, I can confirm that there were finds of ammonium nitrate in southern Germany. The local authorities discovered this find and destroyed it accordingly.
In Beirut there is hyperinflation, prices rose by 250 percent within a month, plus corruption, coronavirus, unemployment and hunger.
Lebanon, long ago called "Switzerland of the Middle East", is in danger of total collapse. Only the IMF and China could help. But negotiations with the IMF have failed. Now some are relying on China as a savior in need. But whether Beijing participates in it can be doubted.
And involved in this chaos is of all things EY, the accounting firm that gave Wirecard its falsified balance sheet for years (€ 1.9 billion). In March, Lebanon was unable to pay interest on its euro bonds for the first time.
Frankfurt scientists note that many Covid 19 patients have heart damage long after their illness has ended. The severity of the course is not critical, and younger people are also affected.
A new study by Frankfurt University in Frankfurt has found that Covid-19 can lead to permanent heart damage in many patients. Out of 100 people examined, the team led by Valentina Puntmann found 78 pathological changes in the heart, 60 of them had myocarditis.
The examinations took place on average 71 days after the Covid 19 diagnosis. It is remarkable that it obviously does not matter how severe the course of the disease was. 67 of the patients had mild symptoms and cured at home.
Hold my beer. This terrible example shows how serious the US corona situation really is! As the local newspaper Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, health officials in Starr County,
(Texas) made a relentless decision to choose the district's only hospital. According to the report, the hospital, which is hopelessly overcrowded with Covid 19 patients, should now differentiate between patients who still have hope of being cured -
and those who are no longer curable. The scarce medical resources should therefore only be used for patients who have a good chance of survival. Everyone else should be send home from hospital more or less to die!

The European Commission and the High Representative have today adopted their 22nd annual report to the European Parliament and the Council on political and economic developments in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (S.A.R.) in 2019.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, said: “The Annual Report takes stock of the serious challenges to Hong Kong's autonomy, stability and guaranteed freedoms in 2019.
These challenges have significantly mounted in 2020. As the European Union, we will not simply stand back and watch as China attempts to curtail these freedoms even more, with its imposition of the draconian national security law.
Berlin curator Mewis wanted to promote young artists in Baghdad. Now she has been kidnapped. The Federal Foreign Office in Berlin has creazed a crisis team, and the Iraqi Interior Ministry is also investigating the case.

which has seen border clashes with Armenia in which 16 people have been killed. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that it would not hesitate to "stand against any attack" on Azerbaijan and that Armenia was "out of its depth" in the conflict.
The controversial security law in Hong Kong, which grants the Chinese authorities significantly more rights in the special administrative zone, has been in force since the beginning of July.
There was hail of international criticism, but the echo has had relatively little impact. The German government also rejects demands to suspend the extradition agreement with Hong Kong.
A joint response at EU level is being worked on, but this should clearly lag behind the US measures. Washington recently announced visa restrictions for current and former Chinese Communist Party officials. The German government, on the other hand, is hidding in the background.
DZ-Bank (Deutsche Zentralgenossenschaftsbank) fears the third debt crisis in the euro area since 2008 in view of the rapidly increasing national debt in Italy.

The central institute of the cooperative banks assumes that debt in Italy will increase to 160 percent of economic output by the end of the year. The country is one of the countries most affected by the corona pandemic in Europe and
Austria has called for the EU to change course towards Turkey. The conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque is only the "youngest link in a chain of provocations,"
said Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg at his meeting with his EU colleagues in Brussels. Turkey's behavior in conflicts such as Libya or the gas drilling off Cyprus which the EU has classified as illegal showed that the country is
"simply not a reliable partner of Europe".Schallenberg called to the EU for "a policy with a strong edge towards Turkey". He reaffirmed Austria's position to end negotiations with the country on joining the EU."I believe that the European Union should also make a clear cut here."

In the Netherlands, the police made a scary discovery during an operation in the province of Brabant. The officers found seven containers in a warehouse in Wouwse Plantage,
which had been converted into a prison and torture chamber by a criminal gang. "The image of the sea containers is ice cold and very shocking," said the public prosecutor in Rotterdam.
One of the containers contained a dentist's chair and numerous torture instruments such as hedge trimmers, pliers and surgical instruments. Obviously, the gang was planning kidnappings. The criminals wanted to pretend to be a police detail.
