The EU #MigrationPact reinforces a narrative focused on exclusion and security at any cost.
It fails to address the impact of structural #racism and how it plays out in practices & policies that put people’s lives at risk. Is this really ‘solidarity’?

2/ EU migration policies are historically based on racial discrimination and shaped by a neo-colonial approach.
This needs to be addressed, such as the notion of who belongs to Europe and the criminalisation of moving, which disproportionately impacts racialised groups.

3/ The pact does not acknowledge anti-migrant and xenophobic political discourse in many countries, and the impact it has on policy design and practices.
The pact essentially gives a free hand to these countries to detain and return migrants

4/ Providing more resources to border management contributes to criminalisation and police brutality against migrants and refugees at EU borders.
This money could be spent instead on protecting people in danger and ensuring safe and legal routes.
