Animals are dying en masse on the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East. Videos showed a suspected oil spill and dead seals, octopuses and fish.
Accordingly, a large number of dead marine animals were washed up off Kamchatka. The beaches there are popular with surfers. Tourists complained of poisoning complaints. The region's governor, Vladimir Solodov, warned residents and visitors not to go to the beach on Saturday.
"The only thing that can be said so far is that there is water pollution," he said according to a statement. It is assumed that petroleum products have entered the sea from ships.
The Russian Defense Ministry rejects allegations that ships in the Pacific Fleet could be responsible.
