Consistent improvement in pandemic situation, data on positivity is encouraging. We are continuing to enforce very-high level of coverage in testing. Now, India has 20,519 #COVID19 cases per million population. World average at 22,181, is still higher than us: Dr Paul, @NITIAayog
#COVID deaths per million:
India is 245 per million population in terms of deaths, world average is 477 per million population
: Dr. V.K. Paul, Member (Health), @NITIAayog
@COVIDNewsByMIB @DDNewslive @airnewsalerts
This (improved) situation has resulted from strong action taken by the people of India, States, Union Govt, districts, municipalities, villages, panchayats, communities and families, above all: Dr. V.K. Paul, @NITIAayog

@COVIDNewsByMIB
Appreciate what is working - we are back to wearing masks more diligently. Testing is more generous. Have imposed restrictions in many districts. There are no crowds/gatherings. This has helped us in containing the Pandemic, it is not automatic decline: Dr. V.K. Paul, @NITIAayog
If we reverse this process (lower guard against #COVID19), the situation can again become unacceptable. If our discipline, containment measures,vaccination scale up, preparedness slackens, the situation can again go into a difficult phase & earlier will be the next wave: Dr. Paul
We have to buy time to ensure that we achieve a high coverage of our vaccination. We also have to continue to enforce the tools of testing, tracking, isolation, wearing mask, containment, self-discipline, avoiding gathering, system preparedness: Dr. V.K. Paul, @NITIAayog
The current situation (decling COVID cases) is a result of combined efforts and this has to be continued in a calibrated away for us to open up; but at the same time we should not allow the virus to overtake us: Dr. V.K. Paul, Member, @NITIAayog
@COVIDNewsByMIB @MahaHealthIEC
17.2 Crore people have received atleast one dose of vaccine in India; US is at 16.9 crore
We have overtaken the US in terms of number of people in our country who have received atleast one dose of vaccine
- Dr. V.K Paul, Member (Health), @NITIAayog
@COVIDNewsByMIB @WHOSEARO
We have covered 43% of 60+ population with one dose of vaccine
Elder the citizen, higher priority for vaccination is for that person, purely because higher the age, higher the risk of an adverse outcome
37% covered in 45+ age group
: Dr. V.K.Paul, Member (Health), @NITIAayog
Stating this, Dr. Paul, Member (Health), @NITIAayog appealed for speed in vaccination of senior citizens and conversely, senior citizens should take the vaccine
@COVIDNewsByMIB @ddsahyadrinews @airnews_mumbai @airnews_pune
Sero-survey shows that children, particularly those aged till 10-12 yrs, had been infected in the same proportion as adults during the first wave. But, 2-3% of them required hospitalization. It means children mostly have asymptomatic infection: Dr. Paul
