Using the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s Statewise Covid Hospital Report, we found that the ratio of hospital beds to patients in Delhi is approximately 1 bed for 190 people, and is one of the highest ratios amongst all states.
Despite that, we saw the severe scarcity of hospital beds and medical infrastructure during the second wave of COVID- 19.
What about our other states and villages that have even lesser medical resources? How are they placed to protect themselves against the #COVID19Pandemic?
In view of the catastrophic second wave in #MadhyaPradesh, it is crucial to zoom into health infrastructure to gauge its preparedness - even as cases slowly decline.
We found that the ratio of #hospitalbeds to patients in Madhya Pradesh is approximately 1 bed for 640 people.
Similarly, the ratio of hospital beds to people in #Chhattisgarh is approximately 1:940
The 2nd wave devastated Chhattisgarh where tribal dominant areas, like Jashpur & Balrampur saw a surge of nearly 200% while most urban districts, like Raipur & Durg, saw an increase of 75-80%
The 2nd wave of #COVID19 was particularly alarming for #Jharkhand due to a severe lack of medical facilities and access to #healthcare. The data shows that the ratio of hospital beds to people in Jharkhand is approximately 1 : 1650, one of the #lowest amongst all states in India.
The inequalities amongst the people in India are increasing and the pandemic is amplifying it. Vulnerable communities in the most remote regions of our country need your support to gain access to proper healthcare and medical facilities.
