These so called nasal swabs are called Nasopharyngeal Swabs and are used to collect greater virus load for accurate testing.
One of the reason for FDA and CDC to halt the use of PCR test so abruptly and quietly could be "False Positives" as CT (Cycle treshhold) was higher
