Today am still feeling a bit off. Very tired, a bit achy. Slight cough (which may or may not be related to the flu shot & did not have yesterday).
I could have lied about such things, but did not, & today failed @ucdavis Daily Symptom Checker and am not allowed on campus.
If only there was some way to rapidly do a test at home for #COVID19 to just double check things. Any thoughts? Maybe @michaelmina_lab can help me.
I know I know a bit of a a set up there as I don't need @michaelmina_lab to actually respond since I have been reading his (and many others) Tweets about rapid testing for months. And I got a few #BinaxNow kits just in case they could be useful at some point for me or family.
So let’s do this.
Got my #BinaxNow kit. Got a mug of coffee (thank you coffee fairy) in my Presidential mug (from when @barackobama was POTUS and I went to the WhiteHouse for a meeting run by @jo44atWID).
And, reading the instructions
Opened up and removed and set up one test card - and confirmed the blue line is there
Got out the weird little dropper bottle thingy
Now going to open it and add 6 drops in the top hole
Ok added the drops
Now to the fun part - self swabbing my nostrils - reading instructions
And did the nasal swabbing - easy peasy
Put the swab into the bottom hole and up to the top one and rotated it as instructed
Sealed the card
Timer started - note Twitter was slow - started a few minutes ago
Now down to 645
345
150
30 seconds
And — looks like we are negative - looked for a faint line too and did not see one
And there was much rejoicing
