Meet Jason Nixon - another confirmed UCP liar, pretends to care about the environment, and terrible MLA and Minister.
A thread on why @JasonNixonAB is unfit as an elected official, and an absolute disgrace to this province and country
#ableg #ResignNixon #FireTheUCP
Let's start with his recent lie, about off-Highway vehicle fees: Nixon & the UCP promised (I know, a UCP promise is worthless) to implement a $30 OHV fee with the $$ to go to conservation and repair in areas like McLean creek in Kananaskis. If you are paying attention, the UCP
implemented the K-Pass, a $90/year or $15/day pass to access the park for all users (hikers, bikers, equestrian) EXCEPT, OHV users. The pass is touted as a means to improve K-Country (garbage, damage, infrastructure, etc) and yet, areas like McLean that see massive damage by OHV
users (garbage, abandoned vehicles, etc.) are exempt from the pass. And why? The UCP argue that a $30 random camping implemented makes it fair across the board and doesn't want to 'stack fees' on certain user groups, except that's exactly what they are doing to hikers/bikers/etc.
Nixon claims that ATV users need to register their vehicles and so it's not fair for them to pay a fee to use McLean.. well, as a hiker, I need to register my car to allow me to drive to Kananaskis country. I then need to buy a $90/yr or $15/day pass just to step foot in the park
And, if I want to camp, I then need to pay for my campsite.. whereas, an ATV user can enter the park without cost, and can enjoy their ATV in the park without any additional cost, unless they are camping. The reality is that their scheme is unfairly skewed towards ATV users
Should also be noted that many of the off-road vehicles are not ATVs but jeeps, etc.. so they can come in, have their fun, cause damage, and all for free...
Snowmobiles need to register their vehicle (like an ATV) but ALSO need to pay for the K-Pass.. so again, the UCP are specifically excluding the OHV crowd and forcing all other users to pay stacked fees..
(BTW, follow @BCKOR to follow more info on this)
So let's get to the lie - here is Nixon promising the $30 OHV fee in the legislature from March of this year. Note- he mentions the fees being part of the UCPs platform, it's a 'promise' they made to implement it...
And the 'promise' is still listed in their platform, and yet.. as usual, they lied (shocking.. not. Thats all the UCP know how to do)
albertastrongandfree.ca/united-conserv…
And so, here is where the lie is exposed - last week when announcing the trail act, Nixon was pressed on the fees. Through his gobbledygook word salad, he notes the PROMISED FEE WILL NOT be implemented
(Props, as always, to the awesome @MBellefontaine)
And the follow up where he claims it wouldn't be fair to ATV users to be double stacked (and yet, it's fair to push that on other users who are MUCH less destructive...?)
To note - when the NDP were in power, Nixon being an OHV guy, frothed up the OHV groups against proposed changes to the Castle region on OHV vehicles. @SPhillipsAB had threats and anger directed to her, which continued with officers, OHV guys, who surveillance and harassed her
Watch the CBC story about this and the rest of the LPS breach of trust and harassment here. Nixon's grifting is one reason, maybe the main reason, this all started (my opinion)
This isn't Nixons first (and certainly not his last) lie.. remember when him and his press sec LIED about not wanting to sell the parks? It resulted in a massive grassroots campaign to #DefendAlbertaParks after it was noted that they were going to sell or delist parks to sell
As well as a plan to close a bunch of parks on the premise that they were under-utilized.. however when nixons department was pressed for information on the data used to close the parks.. uh oh.. they couldn't/refused to provide it..
In a poorly executed and pathetic attempt to gaslight Albertans into not remembering what Nixon and his press sec said, the UCP started a campaign called 'My Parks will go on'.. a failure as usual. The #DefendABParks campaign won award an award. The UCP had to walk back their
plans in Dec 2020, realizing their attempt to sell of Alberta to the highest bidder failed and close parks without producing the data, had failed.

And, to add, if you didn't know about Jason Nixons sordid past, he has been accused of horse poaching (acquitted by a former PC MLA turned judge in his case..🤔),
calgary.ctvnews.ca/mobile/charges…
He also had to sign a peace bond after he was accused of threatening to shoot a witness ("D'you wanna shoot the bitch?") who saw him and photographed some others on HER land and had recently poached a deer..
You can watch her full statement and video here that tells a lot more of the story and shows just what kind of person Nixon really is
And additionally, ugh this f*cking guy.. he also violated someone's human rights, was taken to tribunal and LOST. He fired a single mother of 5, days before Xmas, after she reported sexual harassment to him. edmontonjournal.com/news/politics/…
It's also interesting,in the harassment lawsuit facing Dreeshan & others in the UCP clownshow, Nixon was involved..low and behold, the woman who complained was fired. Deja-f*cking vu? cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…
Oh, and our 'enviro minister' decided to rollback enviro protections during covid, the most in Canada. Never let a good crisis go to waste right Jason? He should be called minister of destruction as he was also the one who announced the rescinding of the coal policy
So, since this is getting long, I submit that Jason Nixon is unfit for elected position, a terrible MLA and Minister. An enemy of the citizens and the environment in this province.
Remember this #Alberta. This province can't afford Nixon, Kenney, and the UCP
