It will irrigate 14 lakh hectares and benefit 29 lakh farmers in 6200 villages of eastern #UP
It interlinks Ghaghara, Saryu, Rapti, Banganga and Rohini.

Work on the project started in 1978 but was not completed. PM @narendramodi 's vision for farmer welfare and empowerment, and his commitment to prioritise long pending projects of national importance, have ensured completion of the project.

In 2016 the project was brought under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. Innovative solutions were found for land acquisition for new canals and resolving litigation. PM @narendramodi set a 4-year deadline and monitored work on the project.

The total cost of Saryu Nahar National Project is Rs. 9800 crore, of which Rs 4600 crore was provided in last 4 years. The project interlinks Ghaghara, Saryu, Rapti, Banganga and Rohini to ensure optimum usage of water resources in east #UP.
